High-Protein German Pasta

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion
  • 1/2 lbs sliced mushrooms
  • 1 lbs smoked sausage
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 globe tomato
  • 1/2 lbs bowtie pasta
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tsp salt to taste
  • 1 tsp black pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp oregano to taste
  • 4 oz shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Method
 

  1. Prep ingredients:
    Dice onion
    Slice mushrooms
    Dice tomato
    Slice sausage into 1/4 inch pieces
    Mince garlic cloves
    Shred cheddar cheese (optional ingredient)
  2. Heat pan to a medium high temperature
  3. Fry onions for 2 minutes in the olive oil
  4. Add sliced mushrooms and fry for 2 minutes
  5. Add sausage and garlic and fry for 2 minutes
  6. Add pasta, tomatoes, heavy cream, and chicken broth
  7. Add salt, pepper, and oregano
  8. Mix until everything is incorporated
  9. Cover and reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 25 minutes
  10. (Optional) Add cheddar cheese for the final 5 minutes of cooking
